Pierre Magistretti

Pierre Magistretti, médecin et neurobiologiste est actuellement Doyen de la Division de Biologie et Sciences de l’environnement à King Abdullah University of Science and Technology en Arabie Saoudite. Il est également Professeur Emérite à l’Université de Lausanne et à l’Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne au sein de laquelle il a dirigé le Brain Mind Institute de 2005 à 2012. De 2004 à 2013, il a été le Founding Director du Centre de Neurosciences Psychiatriques de l’Université de Lausanne et du Centre Hospitalier Universitaire Vaudois (CHUV).

Ses travaux ont contribué à la découverte des mécanismes cellulaires et moléculaires fondamentaux du métabolisme énergétique cérébral, notamment ceux qui sont à la base du couplage entre l’activité neuronale et la consommation d’énergie par le cerveau et de certains mécanismes de la plasticité neuronale et de la neuroprotection.

Il est l’auteur de plus de 250 articles et de trois livres, dont deux co-écrits avec François Ansermet qui traitent de la plasticité neuronale et des bases neurobiologiques de l’inconscient, “A chacun son cerveau” et “Les énigmes du plaisir”, et un avec Yves Agid concernant les cellules gliales, « L’homme glial » tous publiés aux éditions Odile Jacob.

Pierre Magistretti a reçu la médaille Camillo Golgi, le Goethe Award de la Canadian Psychological Association, le prix Theodore-Ott de l’Académie Suisse des Sciences Médicales et le prix de la Fondation IPSEN. En 2007 – 2008 il a occupé la Chaire internationale au Collège de France. Il est membre élu de l’Academia Europeae (Physiologie et Médicine), ainsi que membre ‘ad personam’ de l’Académie Suisse des Sciences Médicales. Depuis 2014 il est Président de l’International Brain Research Organisation (IBRO).

Yves Agid

Neurologue à l’Institut du Cerveau et de la Moëlle à Paris, spécialiste de la maladie de Parkinson, membre de l’Académie des sciences, Yves Agid est professeur émérite de Neurologie et de Biologie Cellulaire à l’Université Pierre et Marie Curie et praticien hospitalier. Médecin et scientifique, ce spécialiste de l’étude des maladies neurodégénératives (Parkinson, Alzheimer…) en a étudié les causes, les mécanismes et les conséquences cliniques afin de proposer de nouvelles thérapeutiques.

En 1993, il devient le directeur du service de neurologie de l’Hôpital de la Pitié-Salpêtrière jusqu’en 2007 et mène en parallèle une carrière de chercheur à l’Institut national de la santé et de la recherche médicale (Inserm) de 1985 à 2000.

En 2008, il est élu membre de l’Académie des sciences dans la section Biologie humaine et sciences médicales et est nommé la même année Chevalier de la Légion d’honneur. Depuis 2009 il est membre du Comité consultatif national d’éthique.

Il a également été directeur de l’Institut fédératif de recherche (IFR) de neurosciences de 1997 à 2005, de l’Institut de neurologie de 2000 à 2002, coordinateur du Centre d’investigation clinique depuis 1996, mais aussi membre fondateur et directeur scientifique de l’Institut du cerveau et de la moelle épinière (ICM).

Grégoire Courtine

Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, spécialiste de l’étude et des approches réparatrices des lésions de la moëlle épinière

Grégoire Courtine a été formé en mathématiques et en physique, mais il a obtenu son diplôme de doctorat en médecine expérimentale à l’Université de Pavie, en Italie, et l’INSERM Plasticité et Motricité, en France, en 2003.

De 2004 à 2007, il a occupé un post-doctorat à l’Institut de recherche sur le cerveau de l’Université de Californie à Los Angeles (UCLA) sous la supervision du Dr Reggie Edgerton, et il a été associé de recherche pour la Fondation Christopher et Dana Reeve (CDRF).

En 2008, il devient professeur adjoint à la faculté de médecine de l’Université de Zurich où il établit son propre laboratoire de recherche.

En 2012, il a été nommé professeur associé à l’Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) où il dirige son propre laboratoire de recherche spécialisée dans la réparation de la moelle épinière. Il est membre du Centre de neuroprothèses et du Brain Mind Institute.

Il a publié plusieurs articles proposant des approches innovantes pour réparer les lésions de la moëlle épinière, approches qui ont été largement discutées dans la presse nationale et internationale. Récemment, il est parvenu à transférer ses résultats chez des patients paraplégiques.

En 2013, il a lancé la startup GTXmedical qui a pour objectif de transformer ces résultats en un traitement pour la paraplégie.

Richard Frackowiak

Neurologue et ancien doyen-directeur de l’Institut de Neurologie, Queen Square à l’University College London, spécialiste de l’imagerie cérébrale et de la maladie d’Alzheimer. Codirecteur du Human Brain Project.

Richard Frackowiak est professeur ad hominem et ancien chef du Département de neurosciences cliniques à l’Université de Lausanne (UNIL) et au Centre Hospitalier Universitaire Vaudois (CHUV). Il est également titulaire d’une chaire de professeur à l’EPFL. Il est un des promoteurs du projet européen “Human Brain Project“. Un pionnier de l’imagerie du cerveau humain, sa production scientifique est fortement citée et récompensée par des prix internationaux.

Professeur fondateur du Département de neurosciences cliniques à l’Université de Lausanne et du Département de la neurologie cognitive à l’University College London (UCL), où il est professeur émérite. Il a dirigé l’Institut de neurologie de UCL à Queen Square, et a été vice-recteur de cette université. Il a aussi dirigé le Département d’études cognitives (DEC) à l’École Normale Supérieure (Ulm) de Paris.

Il est membre des Académies de Médecine du Royaume-Uni, de France, de Belgique et des États Unis, membre de l’Academia Europaea et associé étranger de l’Académie polonaise des sciences. Il a été président de l’Association britannique de neuroscience et de la European Brain and Behaviour Society. Ancien conseiller scientifique auprès du Directeur général de l’INSERM, il a aussi présidé la commission des IHU. Il est membre de la commission IDEX du Programme d’Investissements et de diverses autres commissions d’évaluation internationales.

Nancy Cattan

Après avoir obtenu son doctorat en sciences de la vie à l’Université de Nice Sophia Antipolis, Nancy Cattan a d’abord été chercheur au Centre Anticancéreux A. Lacassagne, à l’Inserm U145 et à l’Université de Nice-Sophia Antipolis, avant de devenir journaliste scientifique.

Elle a donc commencé sa carrière de journaliste en 2002 en tant que Rédactrice en chef du Magazine Seniors de 2003 à 2006.

Collaboratrice régulière de Nice Matin depuis 2003, elle devient Chef de Rubrique Santé de Nice Matin et Var Matin en 2013.

Bruno DUBOIS

Bruno Dubois est professeur de Neurologie à l’Université de La Sorbonne à Paris.

Il est le Chef du Service des Maladies Cognitives et Comportementales à l’hôpital de La Salpêtrière, Directeur de l’Unité de Recherche à l’ICM. Il coordonne plusieurs centres de références nationales Maladies rares (centre ‘Démences rares et précoces’; centre ‘malades Alzheimer jeunes’) et le Centre d’Excellence des Maladies Neurodégénératives de Paris (CoEN).

Il a publié sur la neurochimie du cerveau chez l’animal et chez l’homme, sur la neuropharmacologie, la neuropsychologie et les biomarqueurs des patients avec troubles cognitifs et démences.

Il a dirigé un groupe d’experts internationaux (l’International Working Group – IWG) à l’origine d’une nouvelle conception et définition de la maladie d’Alzheimer.

Il est membre de l’Académie de Médecine et Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur.

Pierre Magistretti

Pierre Magistretti, doctor and neurobiologist is currently Dean of the Department of Biology and Environmental Science at the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology in Saudi Arabia. He is also Professor Emeritus at the University of Lausanne and at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne, where he ran the Brain Mind Institute from 2005 to 2012. From 2004 to 2013, he was the Founding Director of the Centre for Psychiatric Neurosciences of the University of Lausanne and of the Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV).

His work has contributed to the discovery of fundamental cellular and molecular cells of the brain energy metabolism, notably those that are the basis of the pairing between neuronal activity and energy consumption by the brain and certain mechanisms of neuronal plasticity and neuroprotection.

He is the author of more than 250 articles and three books, two of which are co-edited with François Ansermet on neuronal plasticity and the neurobiological bases of unconsciousness, “A chacun son cerveau” and “Les énigmes du plaisir”, and one with Yves Agid regarding glial cells “L’homme glial”, all published by Odile Jacob.

Bruno DUBOIS

Bruno Dubois is a Professor of Neurology at Sorbonne University in Paris.

He is the Head of the Department of Cognitive and Behavioural Diseases at the Salpêtrière Hospital, Research Unit Director at the Brain & Spine Institute (ICM). He coordinates several centres of national references on rare diseases (the centre for “Rare and Early Dementias”; the centre for “young people with Alzheimer’s disease”) and the Paris Centre of Excellence for Neurodegenerative Diseases (CoEN).

He has published on the topic of animal and human brain neurochemistry, neuropharmacology, neuropsychology and biomarkers of patients with cognitive disorders and dementia.

He led the International Working Group (IWG) that spearheaded a new conception and definition of Alzheimer’s disease.

He is a member of the Academy of Medicine and Knight of the Legion of Honour.

Richard Frackowiak

Neurologist and former Dean and Director of the Queen Square Institute of Neurology in London, specialist in brain imagery and Alzheimer’s disease. Co-director of the Human Brain Project.

Richard Frackowiak is a Professor ad hominem and former Head of the Department of Clinical Neuroscience at the University of Lausanne (UNIL) and at the University Hospital of Lausanne (CHUV). He also holds a Chair as Professor at the Federal Polytechnic School of Lausanne (EPFL). He is one of the promoters of the European project “Human Brain Project“. A pioneer in human brain imagery, his scientific contribution is often mentioned and rewarded with international prizes.

Founding Professor of the Department of Clinical Neuroscience at the University of Lausanne and the Department of cognitive neurology at the University College London (UCL), where he is an honorary Professor. He has run the UCL Queen Square Institute of Neurology and was vice-rector of this University. He has also run the Department of Cognitive Studies (DEC) at the École Normale Supérieure (Ulm) in Paris.

He is a member of the Academies of Medicine of the United Kingdom, France, Belgium and of the United States, a member of the Academia Europaea and foreign associate of the Polish Academy of Sciences. He was chairman of the British Association of Neuroscience and of the European Brain and Behaviour Society. Former scientific advisor to the managing director of the French National Institute of Health and Medical Research (INSERM) and has presided the commission of University Hospitals Institutes (IHU). He is a member of the Commission for Excellence Initiatives (IDEX) of the Investments’ Program and of various other international evaluation commissions.

François Ansermet

Honorary Professor at the University of Geneva and the University of Lausanne after having been Director of the University Department of Psychiatry at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Geneva, Lecturer in child psychiatry and head of Department of the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the Geneva University Hospitals.

He previously lectured child psychiatry at the University of Lausanne, was Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Biology and Medicine, Chief Doctor at the University Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the University Hospital of Lausanne. He is furthermore a psychoanalyst and member of the World Association of Psychoanalysis.

His research activities concern the relationship between neurosciences and psychoanalysis, on the topic of neuronal plasticity and unconsciousness as part of the Agalma Foundation in Geneva with, among other things, two books published on this topic with Pierre Magistretti “A chacun son cerveau” and “Les énigmes du plaisir” published by Odile Jacob ; regarding prenatal or neonatal trauma, in translational connection with neurobiology, in particular in the national program NCCR-Synapsy implemented upon Pierre Magistretti’s initiative; regarding the consequences of further progress in biotechnologies in the field of medically-assisted procreation and preconceptional or prenatal predictive medicine between, among other things, a book published by Odile Jacob, “La fabrication des enfants, un vertige technologique”; regarding variations of sexual development and transgenderism.

He has been a member of the National Consultative Committee of Ethics in Paris since 2013.

Grégoire Courtine

Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne, specialist in the study and approaches to the repair of spinal cord injuries

Grégoire Courtine was originally trained in Mathematics and Physics, but received his PhD degree in Experimental Medicine from the University of Pavia, Italy, and the INSERM Plasticity and Motricity, in France, in 2003.

From 2004-2007, he held a Post-doctoral Fellow position at the Brain Research Institute, University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) under the supervision of Dr. Reggie Edgerton, and was a research associate for the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation (CDRF).

In 2008, he became Assistant Professor at the faculty of Medicine of the University of Zurich where he established his own research laboratory.

In 2012, he was nominated Associate Professor at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne (EPFL) where he directs the International Paraplegic Foundation (IRP) chair in spinal cord repair at the Centre for Neuroprosthetics and the Brain Mind Institute.

He published several articles proposing radically new approaches for restoring function after spinal cord injury, which were discussed in national and international press extensively. Recently, he managed to use his results on paraplegic patients.

In 2013, he launched the start-up GTXmedical, whose goal is to turn these results into a treatment for paraplegia.

Nancy Cattan

Science journalist, Nice Matin.

After obtaining her PhD in life sciences at the University of Nice Sophia-Antipolis, Nancy Cattan was initially a researcher at the A. Lacassagne Cancer Centre, at the Inserm U145 and at the University Nice Sophia-Antipolis, before becoming a scientific journalist.

She thus started her career in journalism in 2002 as Editor-in-Chief of the Senior Magazine from 2003 to 2006.

A regular contributor to Nice Matin since 2003, she became Head of the Health Section of Nice Matin and Var Matin in 2013.

David Szekely

Psychiatre hospitalier à Monaco, après un cursus universitaire à Paris et à Grenoble, le Docteur David Szekely présente une thèse de médecine sur la stimulation magnétique en psychiatrie.

Il s’est impliqué dans la recherche clinique sur l’électroconvulsivothérapie (ECT) et la stimulation magnétique transcrânienne (rTMS ) ou la stimulation à courant continu.

Il participe comme formateur au diplôme inter-universitaire ECT et rTMS à Lyon et Bordeaux, et collabore à plusieurs ouvrages collectifs sur ces techniques de neuromodulation non invasives appliquées aux troubles psychiatriques.

Il est l’actuel représentant de la section STEP (Stimulation Transcrânienne En Psychiatrie) de l’AFPBN (Association Française de Psychiatrie Biologie et Neuropsychopharmacologie), et membre de la TASK Force pour l’électroconvulsivothérapie de l’Association mondiale de Psychiatrie Biologique (WSFPB).

Kévin Polet

Kévin Polet est Neuropsychologue au Centre Mémoire et dans l’Unité de Recherche Clinique du Centre Rainier III (Chef de service Pr Alain Pesce) du Centre Hospitalier Princesse Grace de Monaco.

Il est également doctorant en Neuropsychologie au sein du laboratoire LAPCOS de l’Université de Nice Sophia-Antipolis, sous la direction de Galina Iakimova.

Ses principaux travaux de recherche portent sur les mouvements oculaires impliqués dans la cognition sociale (reconnaissance d’émotions faciales, empathie, Théorie de l’Esprit) dans le vieillissement normal, les pathologies neurodégénératives (maladie d’Alzheimer, maladie de Parkinson et Dégénérescence Lobaire Fronto-Temporale) et dans les différents phénotypes de la Sclérose en Plaques. Il s’intéresse également à l’apport de la vidéo-oculographie motrice (eye-tracking) pour le diagnostic précoce de la Paralysie Supranucléaire Progressive et de la Sclérose en Plaques.

Il a élaboré un programme de stimulation cognitive sur tablette tactile et un programme de psychoéducation destiné aux aidants de personnes souffrant de pathologies neurodégénératives.

Auparavant, il a travaillé en service de psychiatrie, de neurologie, de soins de suites et de réadaptation, ainsi qu’en unité de soins aux cérébrolésés, dans des structures civiles et militaires.

Depuis 2014, il est membre de l’Organisation Nationale des Pychologues Spécialisés en Neuropsychologie.

David Szekely

Hospital Psychiatrist in Monaco, after his university degree in Paris and Grenoble, he presents his medical thesis on the magnetic simulation in psychiatry. He involved himself in the clinical research of Electro convulsivotherapy (ECT) and in the Transcranial Magnetic Simulation (rTMS ) or the continuous power stimulation.

He participates as an instructor for the inter-university diploma ECT and rTMS in Lyon and Bordeaux, and collaborates on multiple collective publications on these specific technics of non-invasive neuromodulation implemented on psychiatric disorders.

He is the actual representative of the TSIP section (Transcranial Stimulation in Psychiatry) of the FABPN (French Association of Biological Psychiatry and Neuropsychopharmacology), and member of the TASK Force for the Electro convulsivotherapy of the Worldwide Association Biological Psychiatry (WABP).

Kévin Polet

Kévin Polet is a Neuropsychologist at the « Centre de la Mémoire » and in the Clinical research unit « Centre Rainier III » (Head department: Pr Alain Pesce) at the “Centre Hospitalier Princesse Grace de Monaco”.

He is also a doctoral student in Neuropsychology in the LAPCOS laboratory of the University of Nice Sophia-Antipolis, under the direction of Galina Iakimova.

His main research works concerns the ocular movements implicated in the social cognition (acknowledgement of facials emotions, empathy, spirit theory) in the normal ageing, neurodegenerative pathologies (Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease, including Lobaire Fronto-Temporale degeneration) and finally in the different phenotypes of the Multiple Sclerosis. He also has his interests in the video-oculography (eye tracking) for the early diagnostic of the Progressive Supranuclear Paralysis and of the Multiple Sclerosis.

He has elaborated a cognitive stimulation program on tactile tablet and a psychoeducation program intended to help people suffering from neurodegenerative pathologies.

Previously, he has worked in psychiatry, neurology and rehabilitation units, as well as in a brain-damaged care unit, in a civilian and military structure.

Since 2014, he’s a member of the « Organisation Nationale des Pychologues Spécialisés en Neuropsychologie » / National Organisation of Psychologist Specialised in Neuropsychology.

Edvard Moser

Edvard Moser a reçu le cand.psychol. Il est Diplômé en psychologie au Département de psychologie de l’Université d’Oslo en 1990. Il a ensuite été employé comme chercheur à la Faculté de médecine, où il a obtenu son doctorat philos. en recherche dans le domaine de la neurophysiologie en 1995. Il a également étudié les mathématiques et les statistiques. Au début de sa carrière, il a travaillé sous la direction de Per Andersen.

Moser a ensuite entrepris une formation postdoctorale avec Richard G. Morris au Centre for Neuroscience, Université d’Édimbourg, de 1995 à 1997, et a été chercheur postdoctoral invité au laboratoire de John O’Keefe à l’University College de Londres pendant deux mois.

Moser est retourné en Norvège en 1996 pour être nommé professeur agrégé de psychologie biologique au département de psychologie de l’Université norvégienne des sciences et de la technologie (NTNU) à Trondheim. Il a été promu professeur titulaire de neurosciences en 1998. Moser est également chef du département de l’Institut NTNU pour les neurosciences des systèmes.

En 2005, lui et May-Britt Moser ont découvert des cellules de grille dans le cortex entorhinal médial du cerveau. En 2018, il a découvert un réseau neuronal qui exprime le sens du temps dans des expériences et des souvenirs situés dans le cortex entorhinal latéral du cerveau. Il a partagé le prix Nobel de physiologie ou de médecine en 2014 avec sa collaboratrice de longue date May-Britt Moser et son ancien mentor John O’Keefe pour leur travail d’identification du système de positionnement du cerveau.

Il est membre de la Société royale norvégienne des sciences et des lettres, de l’Académie norvégienne des sciences et des lettres et de l’Académie norvégienne des sciences technologiques.

Il est également professeur honoraire au Center for Cognitive and Neural Systems de la faculté de médecine de l’Université d’Édimbourg.

Emrah Düzel

Emrah Düzel a reçu une formation de neurologue en Allemagne (à Bonn et Magdebourg) et s’intéresse depuis longtemps à l’anatomie fonctionnelle des réseaux de mémoire épisodique humaine, aux circuits neuromodulateurs, à leurs altérations au cours du vieillissement et aux premiers stades de la neurodégénérescence et à leur impact sur la plasticité. Son groupe de recherche utilise et a développé les techniques d’imagerie multimodale, notamment l’IRMf, l’EEG / MEG et la TEP. Il s’intéresse particulièrement à la manière dont la dégénérescence des systèmes de neurotransmetteurs dopaminergiques et noradrénergiques contribue au dysfonctionnement cognitif lors du vieillissement en ayant un impact sur la motivation, la prise de décision, la consolidation de la mémoire et la plasticité. Il aborde ce problème du point de vue de l’interaction entre les processus de mémoire déclarative, la motivation et la prise de décision.

Francis Eustache

Francis Eustache est un chercheur français en neuropsychologie et en imagerie cérébrale, spécialisé dans l’étude de la mémoire et de ses troubles. Il est l’ auteur ou co-auteur de plus de 300 articles dans des domaines tels que la psychologie cognitive, l’imagerie cérébrale, la neuropsychologie cognitive, la neuropsychologie clinique et de nombreux ouvrages destinés au Grand public. Il a été l’un des premiers chercheurs en France à utiliser la neuroimagerie cérébrale dans l’étude de la mémoire humaine. Ses travaux en neuropsychologie en imagerie cérébrale ont permis une meilleure compréhension de la mémoire humaine et de ses troubles, notamment dans différentes pathologies comme la maladie d’Alzheimer, les démences fronto-temporales et les syndromes amnésiques. Il co-dirige, avec l’historien Denis Peschanski, le programme de recherche transdisciplinaire et longitudinal intitulé 13-Novembre, qui porte sur la construction des mémoires individuelles et collectives après les attentats perpétrés à Paris et sa banlieue en novembre 2015. Ses travaux, diffusés à l’international, contribuent à la modélisation de la mémoire humaine

Johannes Gräff

Johannes Gräff est né et a grandi en Suisse alémanique, à Saint-Gall. Après le lycée, il a traversé la frontière linguistique à l’Université francophone de Lausanne, où il a terminé ses études de premier cycle. Au cours de ceux-ci, il a passé un an à l’Université de la Colombie-Britannique (UBC), à Vancouver, au Canada, où il a commencé à s’intéresser aux neurosciences et à la psychologie. Sa thèse de Master, menée sous la direction du Professeur Laurent Keller en 2005, était axée sur les causes génétiques du vieillissement chez les fourmis. Intrigué par la façon dont les gènes peuvent influencer le comportement – et vice versa – il a commencé un doctorat. Thèse dans le laboratoire d’Isabelle Mansuy à l’Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Zurich (ETHZ) pour se spécialiser sur les mécanismes neuroépigénétiques qui régulent l’apprentissage et la mémoire. Il a obtenu son doctorat. en 2009, et est resté pendant un court moment en tant que stagiaire postdoctoral. En 2009, il a rejoint le Massachusetts Institute of Technology à Cambridge, MA, USA pour commencer son travail postdoctoral sous la direction de Li-Huei Tsai. Lors de cette période post-doctorale il a été le premier à montrer que la machinerie épigénétique est causalement impliquée dans le déclin cognitif associé à la neurodégénérescence, ainsi que dans la mise à jour des souvenirs traumatiques à long terme dans un modèle murin de trouble de stress post-traumatique. Depuis 2013, Johannes Gräff est professeur assistant tenure track au Brain Mind Institute de la Faculté des sciences de la vie et titulaire de la chaire Nestlé en neurosciences à l’École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL). Il est également membre fondateur du réseau d’excellence FENS-Kavli, boursier MQ, chercheur indépendant NARSAD et titulaire d’un ERC StG.

Emiliano Macaluso

Emiliano Macaluso est professeur de neuroimagerie au Département de Biologie de l’Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1, et mène ses recherches au sein de l’équipe ImpAct du Centre de Recherche en Neurosciences de Lyon (Lyon, FR). Il a obtenu son doctorat à l’University College London (Royaume-Uni) en 2000. Après avoir travaillé comme post-doc à l’Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience (Londres, Royaume-Uni), en 2004, il a rejoint la Fondazione Santa Lucia, où il a créé le Neuroimaging Laboratory (Rome, IT dont il a été directeur de 2006 à 2016. Ses principaux intérêts de recherche portent sur la base neurale de l’attention, l’intégration multisensorielle et la perception de l’espace. À l’aide de techniques d’imagerie cérébrale non invasives, il étudie les interactions dynamiques qui résultent de la combinaison de signaux générés de manière « top down » liés à la tâche et aux attentes, avec des signaux « bottom up » déclenchés par l’apparition de stimuli dans le monde extérieur. Récemment, ses études se sont concentrées sur l’interaction entre l’attention et la mémoire dans des environnements complexes et naturalistes. Il est coéditeur de Experimental Brain Research et rédacteur associé de Neuroscience Letters et de Frontiers in Integrative Neuroscience. Il est membre du comité exécutif de l’European Brain and Behavior Society (EBBS).

Eraldo Paulesu

Eraldo Paulesu est neurologue et Professeur de neuroscience cognitives à l’Université de Milano-Bicocca.

Au début des années 90, avec Chris Frith et Richard Frackowiak, il a été le pionnier de la combinaison de techniques comportementales inspirées de modèles cognitifs et d’observations neurophysiologiques basées sur des techniques d’imagerie fonctionnelle.

Parmi ses principales réalisations scientifiques nous trouvons : la première définition de l’anatomie fonctionnelle de la mémoire de travail verbale et de ses sous-composantes ; l’identification des voies corticales vestibulaires et leur rôle dans la modulation de la perception consciente chez les patients atteints de lésions du cerveau droit ; l’identification des voies neurales de la douleur cardiaque et de l’absence pathologique de celle-ci ; identification de schémas cognitifs et anatomiques dysfonctionnels communs à la dyslexie dans les différentes cultures ; la définition de corrélats neurophysiologiques de la conscience motrice et de ses altérations dans l’anosognosie pour l’hémiplégie et les premières identifications de l’activité des neurones miroirs qui se distinguent chez l’Homme.

Eraldo Paulesu étudie aussi activement la façon dont le vieillissement affecte la conscience des capacités de mémoire, en accordant une attention particulière à la mémoire autobiographique et à la sémantique personnelle.

Jordan Squair

Jordan Squair a obtenu son doctorat de l’Université de la Colombie-Britannique en 2018. Ses recherches portent sur la compréhension des conséquences cardiovasculaires des lésions de la moelle épinière. Récemment, son groupe de recherche a observé que les personnes atteintes de lésions de la moelle épinière sont 300 à 400% plus susceptibles de souffrir de maladies cardiovasculaires (c.-à-d. Accident vasculaire cérébral, infarctus du myocarde, maladie cardiaque) que la population générale. Ainsi, son travail se concentre spécifiquement sur le développement de nouvelles stratégies (c’est-à-dire la neuromodulation) pour restaurer et / ou maintenir le contrôle des circuits du système neurovégétatif en dessous du niveau de blessure. Yves Agid

Neurologist at the Institut du Cerveau et de la Moëlle in Paris, specialist in Parkinson’s disease, member of the Académie des sciences, Yves Agid is professor emeritus of Neurology and Cellular Biology at Pierre et Marie Curie University and practitioner hospital. Physician and scientist, this specialist in the study of neurodegenerative diseases (Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, etc.) has studied their causes, mechanisms and clinical consequences in order to propose new therapies.

In 1993, he became the director of the neurology department of the Pitié-Salpêtrière hospital until 2007 and at the same time pursued a career as a researcher at the Institut national de la santé et de la recherche médicale (Inserm) from 1985. to 2000.

Edvard Moser

Edvard Moser was awarded the cand.psychol. degree in psychology at the Department of Psychology at the University of Oslo in 1990. He was then employed as a research fellow at the Faculty of Medicine, where he obtained his dr.philos. doctoral research degree in the field of neurophysiology in 1995. He also has studied mathematics and statistics. Early in his career, he worked under the supervision of Per Andersen.

Moser went on to undertake postdoctoral training with Richard G. Morris at the Centre for Neuroscience, University of Edinburgh, from 1995 to 1997, and was a visiting postdoctoral fellow at the laboratory of John O’Keefe at the University College, London for two months.

Moser returned to Norway in 1996 to be appointed associate professor in biological psychology at the Department of Psychology at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in Trondheim. He was promoted to full professor of neuroscience in 1998. Moser is also head of department of the NTNU Institute for Systems Neuroscience.

Emrah Düzel

Emrah Düzel has been trained as a neurologist in Germany (in Bonn and Magdeburg) and have a long-standing interest in the functional anatomy of human episodic memory networks, neuromodulatory circuits, their alterations in aging and early stages of neurodegeneration and their scope for plasticity. For this purpose, his research group uses and advances multimodal imaging techniques including fMRI, EEG / MEG and PET. He is particularly interested in how the degeneration of dopaminergic and noradrenergic neurotransmitter systems contribute to cognitive dysfunction in old age by impacting on motivation, decision making, memory consolidation and plasticity. He approaches this problem from the vantage point of how declarative memory processes, motivation and decision-making interact.

Francis Eustache

Francis Eustache is a French researcher in the fields of neuropsychology and brain imaging, specializing in the study of memory and its disorders. He is the author or co-author of more than 300 articles in fields such as cognitive psychology, brain imaging, cognitive neuropsychology, clinical neuropsychology and numerous works intended for the general public. He was one of the first researchers in France to use brain neuroimaging in the study of human memory. His work in neuropsychology and brain imaging has enabled a better understanding of human memory and its disorders, in particular in various pathologies such as Alzheimer’s disease, frontotemporal dementias and amnesic syndromes. He co-directs, with historian Denis Peschanski, the transdisciplinary and longitudinal research program entitled 13-Novembre, which focuses on the construction of individual and collective memories after the attacks perpetrated in Paris and its suburbs in November 2015. His work, broadcast at internationally, contribute to the modeling of human memory.

Johannes Gräff

Johannes Gräff was born and raised in the German-speaking part of Switzerland, in St. Gallen. After high school, he moved across the language boarder to the French-speaking University of Lausanne, where he completed his undergraduate studies. During those, he spent one year at the University of British Columbia (UBC), in Vancouver, Canada, where he started to become interested in neuroscience and psychology. His M.Sc. thesis, conducted with Professor Laurent Keller in 2005, then focused on the genetic causes of aging in ants. Intrigued by how genes can influence behavior – and vice versa – he started a Ph.D. thesis in the lab of Isabelle Mansuy at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zürich (ETHZ) to specialize on the neuroepigenetic mechanisms that regulate learning and memory. He obtained his Ph.D. in 2009 and stayed on for a short while as a postdoctoral fellow. In 2009, he moved to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, MA, USA to start his postdoctoral work under the supervision of Li-Huei Tsai. During this time, he could for the first time show that the epigenetic machinery is causally involved in cognitive decline associated with neurodegeneration, as well as with updating long-term traumatic memories in a mouse model of post-traumatic stress disorder. Since 2013, Johannes Gräff is a tenure-track assistant professor at the Brain Mind Institute of the School of Life Sciences, and the Nestle Chair for Neurosciences at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL). He is also a founding member of the FENS-Kavli Network of Excellence, a MQ fellow, a NARSAD Independent Investigator and holds an ERC StG.

He was awarded his PhD at University College London (UK) in 2000. After working as a post-doc at the Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience (London, UK), in 2004 he moved to the Fondazione Santa Lucia, where he set up the Neuroimaging Laboratory (Rome, IT) which he has directed from 2006 to 2016. His main research interest concerns the neural basis of attention, multisensory integration and space perception. Using non-invasive brain imaging techniques, he investigates the dynamic interactions that arise from the combination of top-down signals related to task and expectations, with bottom-up signals triggered by the onset of stimuli in the external world. Recently, his studies have focused on the interplay between attention and memory in complex, naturalistic environments. He is co-editor of Experimental Brain Research, and Associate Editor of Neuroscience Letters and of Frontiers in Integrative Neuroscience. He is a member of the European Brain and Behaviour Society (EBBS) executive committee.

Eraldo Paulesu

Eraldo Paulesu is a neurologist, professor of cognitive neuroscience at the University of Milano-Bicocca.

In the early 90s, with Chris Frith and Richard Frackowiak, he pioneered the combination of behavioural techniques inspired by cognitive models and neurophysiological observations based on functional imaging techniques.

Among his main scientific achievements; the first definition of the functional anatomy of verbal working memory and its subcomponents; the identification of the vestibular cortical pathways and their role in the modulation of conscious perception in right brain damage patients; the identification of neural pathways of cardiac pain and the pathological lack of it; the identification of shared dysfunctional cognitive and anatomical patterns in dyslexia across cultures; the definition of neurophysiological correlates of motor awareness and its impairments in anosognosia for hemiplegia and the first identifications of mirror neuron activity in humans are standing out.

Eraldo Paulesu is also actively studying how aging affects awareness for memory skills with particular attention to autobiographic memory and personal semantics

Jordan Squair

Jordan Squair received his PhD from the University of British Columbia in 2018. His research is focused on understanding the cardiovascular consequences of spinal cord injury. Recently, his research group identified that individuals with spinal cord injury are 300-400% more likely to suffer from cardiovascular disease (i.e. stroke, myocardial infarction, cardiac disease) than the general population. Thus, his work specifically focuses on developing novel strategies (i.e. neuromodulation) to restore and/or maintain control of crucial autonomic structures below the level of injury. Using these strategies, he aims to reduce blood pressure lability, restore cardiac function, and thereby reduce this population’s dramatic cardiovascular disease risk burden.

Patrick Rampal

Professeur de Gastroentérologie. Il est depuis 2008 le Président du Conseil d’Administration du Centre Scientifique de Monaco, l’agence de la recherche scientifique en Principauté de Monaco. Le Centre Scientifique de Monaco intègre, sur le même site situé sur le port de Monaco, des activités de recherche fondamentale regroupées au sein de trois départements, un département de biologie marine, un département de biologie polaire et un département de biologie médicale. Patrick Rampal
